Bet you are wondering what dried pieces of nature have to do with fine jewelry…………they form the mold for many of my custom designed pieces. The result are perfect replicas of nature’s many beautiful shapes and sizes. Not all hold up to the process but many like acorn caps, many seed pods, the spice “star anise”, itsy-bitsy cones, bark and tree buds do. Using the lost wax process of casting the material is placed in an investment which is then burned out at very hot temperatures, silver (or gold) is melted and then poured into the form. Finishing touches and the addition of stones (birthstones are very popular) can be added.
